Questions parents ask

How to find your kid's photos, what they cost, how prints and spotlights work, and how to have a photo taken down. If your question isn't here, just ask.

Finding your photos

How do I find my kid's photos?

Scan the Rival sign at the field with your phone's camera. Pick the game, type your kid's jersey number, and only their photos show up.

On game day you can also open Find my photos and choose your game there.

When do the photos go up?

While the game is still going. The gallery goes live during the game and keeps filling up, so you can check at halftime or wait for the final whistle. Just watch the game. The photos will be there.

Do I need an app or an account?

No. The sign opens the gallery right on your phone. There's nothing to download and nothing to sign up for.

Do I have to buy anything to look?

No. Scroll the previews as long as you like and pay only for the photos you want.

My kid's number isn't bringing anything up. Now what?

Photos go up all through the game, so give it a few minutes and check again. If they still don't show, send us the game and the number through the contact form.

Buying and downloading

How much does a photo cost?

$2.99 a photo while the game is going. After the final whistle, photos are $5 each.

How do I pay?

Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card. No account and no app.

Is paying online safe?

Every payment goes through Stripe, which handles the card details.

What do I get when I buy a photo?

The full size photo with no watermark, saved straight to your phone.

When should I save my photos?

Right after you buy. The gallery comes down 48 hours after the final whistle, so get your favorites onto your phone before then.

I lost a photo I bought. Can I get it back?

Write to us through the contact form, pick "A photo I bought," and include the game and the email you paid with.

PLACEHOLDER: confirm bought photos can be sent again, and for how long after the game

Can I get a refund?

If something is wrong with a photo you bought, tell us through the contact form.

PLACEHOLDER: refund policy, and how many days parents have to ask

Post game galleries and prints

What is a post game gallery?

It's the gallery from your kid's game, open to every family there. It goes live while the game is still going, and you search it by jersey number.

Which games get a gallery?

Every regular season game Rival shoots. If Rival isn't on the schedule for a game you care about, you can prebook us.

Is there a free photo?

Yes. Every athlete gets one free photo per game, claimed right in the game's gallery. Pick your favorite, tap Get this one free, add your jersey number and your Instagram or TikTok, and promise to tag @rivalimaging in your post and in the caption. Once Michael approves it, the full-size download unlocks for that photo.

What do I agree to when I claim a free photo?

That you'll tag @rivalimaging in your post and in the caption, and that Rival Imaging can post that photo on Instagram and our other social accounts, on our website, and in ads and marketing materials. Athletes 12 and under need a parent or guardian to claim it for them. The full free photo terms are in our photo policy.

How long does the gallery stay up?

48 hours after the final whistle. Then it comes down.

Are the photos watermarked?

Only the previews. The gallery shows small, watermarked versions, and every photo you buy is full size with no watermark.

Can I get prints?

Yes. Prints are available at the game.

What print sizes do you have, and what do they cost?

Athlete spotlights

What is an athlete spotlight?

It's hiring Rival for your kid, a deep dive on one athlete instead of the whole team. Pick Game Spotlight for $50 or Big Night for $150, or ask about a styled portrait shoot. All of them are on the athlete spotlights page.

What do I get with Game Spotlight?

For $50, your athlete is the focus for one game. You get 20 to 30 edited photos in their own private gallery.

What's in Big Night?

For $150, Rival covers pregame, the whole game, and postgame with family and teammates. You get 40 to 60 edited photos. It's made for senior nights, first games and Friday night lights.

What about video?

Video has its own packages: Mic'd Up, Social Reel, Pregame + Postgame + Highlights and College Highlight Tape for athletes, plus Full Game Broadcast Coverage and Social Media Recap Edits for teams. Social Reel is $35, Mic'd Up $50, Pregame + Postgame + Highlights $150, College Highlight Tape $100 a game (the full game tape, cut down to highlights for $50 more), Full Game Broadcast Coverage from $750 a game with two cameras (up to three for $550 more), and Social Media Recap Edits $350 a game or $2,400 for an 8-game season. See them on the video page.

What is a styled shoot?

Planned portraits of your athlete in uniform. Every styled shoot is quoted, so tell us what you have in mind and Michael will put a price on it.

How soon do we get the photos?

PLACEHOLDER: spotlight delivery time for the photos

How do I book a spotlight?

Pick a package on the athlete spotlights page and send the request with your athlete's name, number and game date. Michael will confirm the date and details with you before the game.

Prebooking Rival

What does prebooking mean?

If Rival isn't on the schedule for a game you care about, you can ask us to come shoot it. It's good for big games, rivalry nights and anything we haven't scheduled yet. The game gets a post game gallery like any other, open to every family there.

How far ahead can I prebook?

You can prebook a game up to 7 days in advance.

How do I prebook a game?

Send the date, time and field through the contact form. Michael will confirm with you before the game that Rival can be there.

Does it cost anything to prebook?

Families at the game buy photos the usual way, $2.99 each during the game and $5 after.

PLACEHOLDER: is there a fee to prebook a game, and if so, how much and who pays

What if the game gets moved or rained out?

Let us know as soon as you hear.

PLACEHOLDER: reschedule and rainout policy for prebooked games and spotlights

Privacy and removal

Can I have a photo of my kid taken down?

Yes. Every photo has a Remove button. Tap it, or ask us through the removal form.

Who can see the galleries?

Galleries are unlisted and kept out of search engines. Families get to them from the Rival sign at the field.

Do you use face recognition?

No. You find your kid by jersey number, never by face.

Will my kid's photo end up on social media or in an ad?

If your athlete is 12 or under, not without a written OK from a parent, the team or the coach. The one exception is a free photo: claiming one means you agree we can post that photo. See the free photo terms in our photo policy.

Where can I read the full photo policy?

It's all on the photo policy page, including how Rival handles photos of kids and how removal works.

Leagues and teams

How do I get Rival at my kid's games?

Ask your league or coach to book Rival, or send us the league's name through the contact form and we'll reach out.

What does it cost the league?

Nothing. Rival covers games at no cost to the league, and the league gets a share of photo sales or free team photos. More on the leagues page.

Does Rival need to be the league's only photographer?

Yes, when the league takes a share of sales or free team photos. In return, Rival is the league's exclusive game photographer and videographer for the season. Parents can always shoot their own kids. More on the leagues page.

Do you do team photo days?

Yes. Rival does team and individual photo days. Ask about one through the contact form.

Where do you shoot?

On the North Shore and around Greater Boston, Massachusetts.

Do you shoot high school games or youth leagues?

Both. Rival shoots youth leagues and high school games on the North Shore and around Greater Boston.

Who runs Rival?

Michael Rotiroti, a National Emmy and duPont-Columbia award winning cinematographer and photographer. He has shot for HBO, MTV, NESN and NBC Sports Boston. Meet Michael.

Are you background checked and insured?
